With the exception of the publications page, this site is no longer being updated.  Why?  Because i had a family - that is, a science family; the Blue Carbon Lab. This means that I'm no longer a lone wolf, so my efforts our now invested in the wolf pack.

AMP backs Blue Carbon Research

AMP Recipient

Dr. Peter Macreadie was one of 42 recipients of AMP’s Tomorrow Fund. This grant fund of $1 million supports scientists, social innovators, artists and athletes to create a better tomorrow for everyone with 2,500 applicants for 2015’s fund.

Dr. Macreadie and his team are on a mission to raise awareness of the carbon storing potential of Australia’s coastal ecosystems. He is using his AMP Tomorrow Fund grant to help measure greenhouse gases from degraded coastal habitats with the aim of highlighting the need to protect key sites around Australia’s coastline: “Our research will develop new knowledge of how coastal ecosystems should be managed to ensure our vast reservoirs of coastal carbon achieve maximum carbon offset capacity.”

Research

Aquatic Ecology involves the study of the interactions among organisms (including humans) and their environment within aquatic ecosystems, including oceans, estuaries, lakes, ponds, wetlands, rivers and streams.

Our research is always moving forward to help us better understand these ecosystems with the aim to inform management, restoration and preservation efforts for these valuable habitats.
